Move Better. Feel Deeper. Live Unconstrained.
Bridge functional biomechanics and somatic sensing to release chronic tension, restore natural mobility, and regulate your nervous system.
Traditional movement practices often push the body into static shapes, ignoring individual structure and chronic nervous system stress. If you are dealing with persistent stiffness, joint compression, or feeling disconnected from your body, more stretching isn't always the answer.
At Freedom of Movement, I combine modern movement science with deep somatic inquiry to address the root causes of tension and restriction:
Hydrate stiff fascial layers using targeted self-myofascial release (MFR).
Retrain efficient movement mechanics to relieve joint stress and chronic overload.
Cultivate inner body awareness (interoception) to quiet an overstimulated nervous system.
Optimize respiratory mechanics for immediate stress relief and functional stamina.

Whether you are looking to recover from movement burnout, navigate persistent discomfort, or deepen your practice, my approach meets you where you are:
Movement Practitioners & Teachers seeking a biomechanically sound, evidence-informed foundation.
Active Individuals & Athletes looking to improve joint mobility, prevent injury, and optimize recovery.
Anyone Experiencing Stiffness or Stress wanting to build lasting physical freedom and nervous system ease.
1. Biomechanics
Functional Alignment & Intelligent Mechanics
Understand how your joints, muscles, and bones interact. We focus on load distribution, functional strength, and sustainable movement patterns tailored to your unique anatomy.
2. Somatic Sensing
Interoception & Nervous System Regulation
Shift from external performance to internal felt-sense. Unlearn subconscious patterns of holding, down-regulate stress, and build resilience from the inside out.
3. Myofascial Release (MFR)
Tissue Hydration & Structural Space
Utilizing specialized therapy balls and gentle pressure techniques to break down fascial adhesions, enhance tissue elasticity, and restore effortless glide.
4. Functional Breathwork
Respiratory Efficiency & Vagal Toning
Re-pattern your breathing mechanics to support structural stability, calm the mind, and balance energy levels on demand.

Somatics, MFR & Functional Movement
Weekly drop-in sessions exploring functional movement themes, guided myofascial release, and breathwork journeys.

Deep-Dive Somatic & Tissue Hydration Experiences
Multi-hour workshops focusing on specific body regions (e.g., hips, shoulders, spine) and deep nervous system restoration or whole day body & mind immersions.

Immersive Rest & Nature Connection
Step away from daily demands and immerse yourself in nourishing sanctuary experiences. Combining somatic sensing, myofascial release, functional breathwork, and eco-therapy in peaceful natural settings (like coastal sanctuaries and rural escapes), these retreats offer dedicated time to reset your nervous system and reconnect with your natural vitality.

Bespoke Structural & Movement Assessments
Personalized sessions addressing your specific movement goals, biomechanical restrictions, and tissue release protocols.

Hi, I’m Marta Jackson—a certified yoga teacher, biomechanics & movement facilitator, embodiment guide, and founder of Freedom of Movement Yoga.
My journey with movement began with a personal search for balance, which evolved into a lifelong devotion to exploring the intersection of how the body works in correlation to how we move, feel, and process what happens. Over years of practice and teaching, my passion has deeply centered on supporting people navigating the changes in their bodies dictated by work, lifestyle or injuries.
Through my signature sessions, I weave together biomechanics, intuitive somatic movement, fluid sequences, and soothing pranayama breathwork. I believe movement is not about fitting into rigid postures or forcing alignment. It is about dropping out of the analytical mind, honoring your body’s internal rhythms, and discovering what feels genuinely liberating and restorative for your unique system.
Whether facilitating specialized biomechanics workshops, leading somatic release sessions or guiding deep restorative practices, my goal is to hold an inclusive, nurturing, and empowering space for growth and exploration.
Here, you are invited to discharge stress, soothe your nervous system, and step off the mat feeling strong, resilient, and fully aligned with yourself.
What is Somatic Yoga?
Somatic Yoga is a gentle, brain-to-body practice that uses slow, conscious movement to release chronic tension and reset your nervous system from the inside out.
How is it different from "regular" yoga?
Traditional yoga often focuses on external alignment and stretching. Somatic Yoga focuses on pandiculation (slowly tensing and releasing muscles) and sensory awareness. In a somatic class, you might spend more time moving slowly on the floor than standing in a pose.
Who is it for?
This practice is designed for anyone looking to bridge the gap between physical movement and mental well-being. It is particularly effective for:
Chronic Pain Sufferers: Relieving persistent back, neck, or joint tension.
High-Stress Individuals: Moving the body out of "fight or flight" into deep relaxation.
Desk Workers: Reversing the effects of "tech neck" and tight hips.
Athletes: Improving recovery and range of motion.
Trauma Recovery: Reconnecting with the body in a gentle, safe way.
Do I need previous yoga experience?
No, Somatic Yoga is accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness level or background. Because the focus is on internal sensation rather than mastering complex shapes, it requires no prior yoga experience, flexibility, or athletic ability. It is an ideal starting point for beginners, as it teaches you how to listen to your body’s unique needs before moving into more strenuous physical activities.
What are the benefits of Somatic Yoga?
Pain Management: Releases "locked" muscles that traditional stretching often misses.
Stress Reduction: Lowers cortisol levels and calms the mind.
Improved Mobility: Retrains the nervous system for more fluid, effortless movement.
Better Sleep: Prepares the body for restorative rest by clearing physical and mental "noise."

"Just had a 1:1 yoga session with Marta, followed by Thai massage. All I can say is wow. It was amazing. I’ve been in Marta’s classes before, but this was my first 1:1. Marta is a wonderful yoga teacher, and I would definitely recommend her classes, her 1:1 yoga and her Thai Yoga Massages. "
